What is TDEE?

Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimation of how many calories you burn per day when exercise and physical activity are taken into account. It is calculated by first figuring out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), then multiplying that value by an activity multiplier.

What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?
Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the number of calories your body burns while at complete rest. TDEE includes your BMR plus all the calories you burn through physical movement, walking, working, and exercising throughout the day.
How do I use TDEE for weight loss?
Once you know your TDEE (Maintenance calories), simply subtract 300 to 500 calories from it. Eating at this “caloric deficit” will result in a healthy, sustainable weight loss of about 0.5kg per week.
