How is the Due Date Calculated?

Our calculator uses Naegele’s Rule, the standard method used by gynecologists and obstetricians worldwide. It calculates the Estimated Due Date (EDD) by adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your Last Menstrual Period (LMP), assuming a standard 28-day cycle. If your cycle is longer or shorter, the tool adjusts the days accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this due date?
The due date is just an estimate. Only about 4% to 5% of babies are born exactly on their estimated due date. Most babies arrive anywhere between 37 and 41 weeks of pregnancy.
Can an ultrasound change my due date?
Yes. While the LMP method is highly reliable, an early first-trimester ultrasound provides the most accurate measurement of the fetus and may result in your doctor adjusting your official due date.
