What is an Exponent?
In mathematics, an exponent refers to the number of times a number (known as the base) is multiplied by itself. It is usually written as a small number to the top right of the base number, such as $x^y$.
For example, if the base is 2 and the exponent is 3 (written as 2³), it means you multiply 2 by itself three times: 2 × 2 × 2 = 8. Exponents are widely used in algebra, scientific notation, and computing data sizes.
